Partnership between SWICA and DKV Globality:
Market-leading worldwide health insurance for international Swiss companies

Winterthur and Luxembourg - 21 January 2010

SWICA, one of the largest health and accident insurance companies in Switzerland, and DKV Globality S.A., an international health insurance company focusing on expatriates, have signed a cooperation agreement. The aim is to jointly market the international health insurance cover Globality CoGenio® in the Swiss market and to provide a local continuation of insurance option in Switzerland. The joint approach closes a gap in corporate health and accident plans for global companies.

In the event of illness or accident, staff on temporary international assignments often have to fend for themselves or are inadequately insured. Also, there is some uncertainty as to whether they are eligible for previous plans on their return to Switzerland. By jointly marketing the international health insurance cover Globality CoGenio® in the Swiss market, SWICA and DKV Globality provide corporate clients with integrated, worldwide insurance solutions.

The cooperation meets the needs of international companies by providing even wider cover. SWICA is now able to offer Swiss companies with international operations the market-leading DKV Globality products, supplementing its existing product range. DKV Globality can provide its corporate clients in Switzerland with a continuation of insurance option for staff returning to Switzerland. In addition to comprehensive healthcare services, the insurance solution has a wide range of assistance services and other benefits, ensuring all-round protection and individual local support.

Globality CoGenio® has been designed for international companies and organisations which

  • send staff/members on temporary international assignments (expatriates)
  • employ staff/members from third countries outside Switzerland (third-country nationals).

Corporate clients benefit from the cooperation since it allows policyholders to switch from SWICA’s national inpatient and outpatient private health insurance solutions to DKV Globality’s international expat solutions, without the need for medical underwriting.

Thomas Merten, CEO of DKV Globality S.A., explained: “Looking back on more than 60 years of experience in health insurance, our partner SWICA provides Swiss corporate clients and organisations with innovative solutions that give comprehensive protection and are optimally aligned to clients’ needs.”

“By cooperating with DKV Globality, SWICA can ideally supplement its range of insurance plans for international corporate clients. DKV Globality’s performance and strong focus on quality are an excellent fit with SWICA’s quality strategy,” emphasised Hans-Ueli Regius, Director General of SWICA.
